PRFM MicroNeedling (the next generation of PRP)
MicroNeedling is a recent advancement in skin rejuvenation also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). This procedure utilizes your own natural response to an injury by triggering a natural repair mechanism for elastin and collagen production. MicroNeedling alone can significantly improve the texture and tone of your skin, however we now have the ability to improve this treatment by utilizing your own body’s growth factors to rejuvenation your skin back to a healthy texture.
What is PRFM?
You may have heard of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). This is a process of drawing your blood, placing it into a centrifuge and separating the growth factors from the red and white cells. These growth factors are often referred to as liquid gold because of their abilities to heal. By reintroducing these compounds into the body you give the skin the maximum boost it needs to improvement tone, texture, fine lines and wrinkles.
The world of medicine is constantly improving and PRFM is proof. We now have the ability to prolong the life of the PRP to help obtain maximum results. Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) follows the same process of drawing your blood and spinning it to obtain the PRP. The difference is it doesn’t stop there. We add a second step which enhances the PRP to form a matrix. This matrix extends the PRP activation time by a number of days. This gives your skin more time to successfully absorb the growth factors for better results.
How is the treatment performed?
MicroNeedling is performed with a pen-like instrument. The pen has a set of precisely spaced sterile needles that oscillate over 100 times a second to produce thousands of micro-injuries at a controlled depth into the dermis. The injured dermis sends signals to stimulate your skin to repair and replace collagen. The process up to this point is standard MicroNeedling. With PRFM MicroNeedling, instead of using a topical gel with the pen your processed PRP is utilized.
The PRP is applied topically over your skin and driven into the dermis with the pen. The growth factors in the PRP are in a high concentration and induce increased elastic and collagen accelerating the healing process. By utilizing the PRFM process you are allowing your skin more time to achieve maximum result with the growth factors active for up to 7 days.
The treatment is performed on the face. The procedure time is typically 45 minutes. Immediately after the treatment, your skin may feel sensitive to the touch and appear red or flushed, similar to a sunburn. The redness usually diminishes after 24 hours but may last up to 3 days depending on your skin’s sensitivity. For optimum results a series of treatments is recommended.
Traditional MicroNeedling and PRFM work together to create a treatment that delivers accelerated results. The benefits are softening of fine lines and wrinkles, improved pore size and skin texture, and increased collagen and skin elasticity.
