What is a C02 resurfacing laser?
The UltraPulse® laser is a single treatment solution for treatment of deep wrinkles to fine lines as well as uneven skin tone and texture. As we age, factors such as sun damage, genetics, acne, diet, and repetitive muscle movement can contribute to the formation of lines, scars, and wrinkles. The UltraPulse greatly diminishes fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne/other scars, and sunspots. Laser resurfacing helps to stimulate the regeneration of the deeper layer of heathy skin. It tightens skin and stimulates collagen growth exposing a vibrant new layer of skin, creating a refreshed, natural more youthful appearance.
The Best Candidates for CO2 laser
The ideal candidates are men and women who would like to see improvement in their skin. The most common areas of treatment include face, neck, and chest.
Planning your Treatment
During the consultation your areas of concern and any previous skin treatments should be discussed in detail. A thorough physical examination of your areas of concern will be performed, including medical history and skin tone. Our providers will ensure your questions are answered and your goals are understood. Patient expectations are important to discuss at the consultation. Treatment technique is individualized for each patient.
What is the procedure like?
The UltraPulse is performed in our office and depending on the area typically takes less than one hour and is a single treatment solution. Our medical day spa offers a combined IPL and ResurFX™ laser which can produce similar results over a series of treatments. The system has 2 main resurfacing settings: ActiveFX™ and DeepFX™. The provider will recommend the correct setting based on your skin. These setting names are often used to describe the treatment in place of UltraPulse but rest assure it is all the same treatment. We provide a topical numbing cream to provide optimal comfort. During the treatment, a laser light penetrates to a precise, controlled depth within your skin, making the resurfacing procedure safe and predictable. The outer damaged layers of skin are removed. Depending on the area you can expect at least 3 days of downtown for smaller areas and 5 for the full face.
What can I expect after the treatment?
The treated area is often described as feeling like a very bad sun burn. You will receive an after-care kit to help your skin heal and rejuvenate. Above all, in the months following it is important to protect the treated area from the sun.
Risks
The UltraPulse is not suitable for everyone. Patients must be off Accutane for 12 months and not have a history of keloid formation. Risks may include change of pigmentation, redness, textual changes, or scarring. This treatment requires a skilled provider with qualified training in both the system and skin tones. Be sure to discuss all your concerns with your provider prior to treatment.
Your new look
You will notice a significant improvement in the quality of your skin and a fresher, smoother appearance. Because it stimulates collagen production you will continue to see improvement up to 6 months after your treatment. This less invasive, non-surgical procedure is becoming increasingly popular. This is not surprising; with a short procedure you are able to reverse the signs of aging.
