Licensed Operating Room Nurse
Dawn Ryan is the manager of our Columbia Surgical Center. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Mercy College of Detroit in 1987. Dawn has been licensed as an operating room nurse since 1997 and is both ACLS and BCLS certified. She is a highly skilled registered nurse trained in all areas in our surgical center and is certified as a first assistant to the doctors during surgery.
Dawn chose to join our practice because of her love of plastic surgery. She thinks of plastic surgery as a “positive surgery that enhances one’s self esteem.” Dawn has over 26 years working in and around plastic surgery including time with a prominent surgeon to the stars in Beverly Hills. In addition, she has worked alongside Dr. Schenden in a hospital surgical setting and will use this knowledge to ensure your experience at our private surgical center will meet or exceed your expectations.
Licensed Practical Nurse
Raquel has worked with Dr. Schenden since 2010. She is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who has been trained in cosmetic injections and patient care in our Columbia Surgical Center. Raquel assists in the operating room as a circulating nurse. She will be with you during pre-operative screening and in the operating room during surgery and is devoted to making sure you are comfortable with all aspects of your surgery. Your care and satification is her top priority. Raquel is also a licensed Aesthetician at Schenden’ Medical Day Spa. She is a value to all three of our companies with the ability to offer our patients a wide range of services. She is always willing to help where needed. Known for an artistic eye, her goal is to help people feel beautiful and refreshed.
Surgical Scrub Technician
Melisa has over 11 years of experience as a surgical technologist and works with Dr. Schenden throughout your surgery. She has an Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology from Macomb Community College, Associate Degree in General Studies and
Certification as a central service technician in sterile processing. Melisa’s main goal is to ensure our surgical field meets all sterile requirements. Melisa enjoys playing an integral role as part of the surgical team. She loves to be able to leave work knowing she helped make a difference in someone's life.
Valerie recently came to the Columbia Surgery Center via Beaumont Hospital in Troy. She has an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Macomb Community College. Valerie has 20 years of healthcare experience in the hospital setting and is ACLS and BCLS certified. She has had the pleasure of caring for many of Dr. Schenden’s patients prior to joining our team.
Valerie chose to work in this practice because she feels a sense of pride to be a part of such a caring and skillful team that delivers the highest quality physical and emotional results to our patients. As a patient, you will meet Valerie as she prepares you for surgery. She will also take care of your recovery. Valerie is committed to help make your stay before and after surgery as comfortable as possible.
